Welcome

Human to Human is both a daily blog and a podcast. The writing part is below. Yes, explore the listen part too — Listen here.

Human to Human, this blog, is journalling and learning in public. I write to be attentive, associative, and appreciative. Sometimes that is work stuff. Sometimes it is life stuff. Sometimes it is poetry. Sometimes simple ahas. I write to get clear. I write to invite clarity with and among others. Enjoy reading and reaching back as inspired.

Alberta Sky

Alberta Sky.

Meaning, prairie. Patched land. Flat. Sun. Clouds. Shade. Long view.

Alberta Sky.

Meaning, home land. Canada. And yes, prairie. There’s a particular familiarity and delight for me in such views (thx Delta).

You can take the boy out of the prairie, but you can’t take the prairie out of the boy?

On my way to Comox. And then Texada. And then Soultime Men’s Retreat. And all of that refreshment.

Delight matters. On top of all the other delights.

What Moves You In These Pictures?

What moves you in these pictures?

No wrong answers. Just invitation. Think it. Feel it. Even better, do that and leave a comment.

  • What catches your attention?
  • Why do you think that might be so?

I took the picture ten days ago. In Bellingham, Washington. On a walk with my Sweetie Dana. And her sibs and their partners. We were strolling. Easy pace.

For me, it was the black of this Crow against blue of Bellingham Bay. It’s the brilliance of color. I seek and appreciate color contrast in my life. Beauty. It’s good to remember what moves the heart.

For me, it was also the expansiveness. Vast bay. Solitary crow. I like to see far. I like bigger picture. It’s often what I’m most excited about in my groups. The bigger vista external and the bigger vista internal.

I believe that the world offers us infinite invitation to create and enjoy meaning. The bridges from a seemingly random, wandery thing to personal aha are also many.

This is what I encourage in my B & B offerings. Wandery aha. Come play. Or come be serious. Preferably both. Come for some blue sky over the bay. Come for some watchful Crow. Or come to find a something new that moves.

Weave Healthy Community

I like this framing (thx Dolores Wollbaum for the share).

Weave.
Healthy.
Community.

Questions that matter.
Images that clarify.

I like the way that many of us are simplifying how we start.
And frame the long journey.

For inspiration.

Gifts of Circle - Question Cardsasd
Gifts of Circle is 30 short essays divided into 4 sections: 1) Circle's Bigger Purpose, 2) Circle's Practice, 3) Circle's First Requirements, and 4) Circle's Possibility for Men. From the Introduction: "Circle is what I turn to in the most comprehensive stories I know -- the stories of human beings trying to be kind and aware together, trying to make a difference in varied causes for which we need to go well together. Circle is also what I turn to in the most immediate needs that live right in front of me and in front of most of us -- sharing dreams and difficulties, exploring conflicts and coherences. Circle is what I turn to. Circle is what turns us to each other."

Question Cards is an accompanying tool to Gifts of Circle. Each card (34) offers a quote from the corresponding chapter in the book, followed by sample questions to grow your Circle hosting skills and to create connection, courage, and compassionate action among groups you host in Circle.

In My Nature
is a collection of 10 poems. From A Note of Beginning: "This collection of poems arises from the many conversations I've been having about nature. Nature as guide. Nature as wild. Nature as organized. I remain a human being that so appreciates a curious nature in people. That so appreciates questions that pick fruit from inner being, that gather insights and intuitions to a basket, and then brings the to table to be enjoyed and shared over the next week."

This set of Note Cards (8 cards + envelopes)  quotes a few favorite passages from poems in In My Nature. I offer them as inspiration. And leave room for you to write personal notes.

Most Mornings is a collection of 37 poems. I loved writing them. From the introduction: "This collection of poems comes from some of my sense-making that so often happens in the morning, nurtured by overnight sleep. The poems sample practices. They sample learnings. They sample insights and discoveries. They sample dilemmas and concerns."
