One of my favorite moments from a World Cafe in The Art of Hosting: Rising To Our Potential, spoken and encouraged by Ed Lee, a community organizer in Atlanta, whom I’m admiring very much. The conversation had tipped into expressions of privilege and inclusion, diversity and justice.

The Circle Way is a lineage for me, reaching back to the 1990s when I first met Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea. It’s woven into all of the change work that I’ve been involved in for the last 20+ years. Yup, important. Yup, a foundation of skill and orientation for participative leadership.
I know that not everyone can make the journey to attend an in-person practicum. I’m aware that skilled practitioners are looking for an opportunity to refresh or deepen their circle practice.

Guest House
Rumi — so often quoted. The 13th century Persian poet.
The Guest House is one of my favorites. For the temporariness that it points to, while at the same time, casting a glance at the infinite in the unseen.
In any of the work I get to do, I feel it is done best when attending simultaneously to what is directly in front of us, and, to the infinite context within which that “in front of us” is wrapped.
