Awake

I spoke this Rumi passage recently with a group of ten of us gathered.

Rumi
Awake a while.
It does not have to be forever.
Just now.
One step upon the sky’s soft skirt
would be enough.

I love the kindness of awake, even if just for a moment. The relief of not being forever. Just now.

I continue to learn that such awakeness, together, cultivated with others, has a way of changing so much within me. From what is often problem to sweet invitation.

I continue to learn that such “one steps” alchemize a world encountered together. From what is often obligation or task, to wondrous seeing.

Yup, awake has some layers and beauty. Just like the pond above, in the moment of ducks taking off.
