It’s 18 minutes, a film from National Geographic, about a project to track and reclaim and heal. It’s searching for wrecked slave ships from Africa to both South and North America.
Over a four hundred year period, there were about 35,000 voyages where the cargo was slaves. About one thousand of those ships sank in voyage.
When colonialism and slavery are denied roots of the origin story, turning to one another for honest speaking and healing, and grief, matters even more.
Thanks Quanita Roberson for sharing this film with me.
